Episode 989 (01 June 2026) marks my second appearance on Boundless Body Radio with Casey Ruff, introducing this site - a metabolic simulator with nutritional writing behind it.

Here are a few pointers to try out the simulator demonstrated in the episode:

Quick start

  • Start on the Simulation page with an empty day. On first visit you’ll see a tour through some options
    • you can repeat the tour any time by clicking the compass ๐Ÿงญ, top right of any page that has a tour
  • Click “Run”, then click individual meals from the meal-selector and watch what they do to your blood sugar and insulin levels

More control

  • Once the 16-hour simulation finishes, or when you pause, you can change the metabolic profile, e.g. between “Healthy”, “Prediabetic” or “Diabetic” presets
    • You can also create your own metabolic profile, in which you can include additional insulin injections. Simply start with one of the presets and save it. Pick a name to describe it.
  • If you prefer to pre-plan a day, rather than interactively clicking on meals: Check out the Day Plans.
    • Day Plans are also required for the longer time projections/reports
    • You can save an interactive simulation, once it’s completed, as a new day plan. As an interactive simulation spans 16 hours, you’ll typically set the start time offset when you save it as day plan

There are some articles available that describe more options with the simulation:

Welcome, Ketobiography listeners

If you’re here because you listened to the Ketobiography podcast with Robyn Dobbins, here are some starting points to explore the site and the simulation

Help improve the simulation

If you’re wearing a continuous glucose monitor and consider sharing some information, please use the feedback button bottom right to get in contact and help tune the algorithm: I’m certain that the numbers make sense (e.g. go roughly into the correct direction), but the peaks currently might be too high, low or the timing might be off.

This is especially true for the multi-week reports: Those are still being calibrated. I already consider their current output useful - but treat it as directional, not precise.

More to explore

While you’re here, check my perspective on various nutritional topics in the Blogs section. Most of them are available in either English or German. And note that there’s an RSS feed to subscribe without leaving an email address.

One more thing I didn’t mention on air: There are a couple of easter eggs hidden on the site and in the simulator. It’s worth poking around to find them - either anonymously or collect them by creating an account (no email required) to keep score. Have fun!

The video version of the full episode can be found on YouTube (screenshare with this site starts at minute 27), and Casey has been kind enough to also create a 10 minute excerpt, with the screenshare beginning at 2:50, which I’ll embed here:
